Educational curricula to train future big band players, arrangers and fans

The ABBPS provides a unique opportunity for students and even school music directors to interact with our big band educators and arrangers while experiencing the excitement of a big band performance. As we receive funding, we will be able to provide our educational and performance services to more schools that otherwise would not have the ability to pay. If you are an organization and or a school that has funds available for the master classes, instruction and performances we offer, or if you’d like learn about how to raise funds for our services, call 1-888-340-6874 or write us at info@AmericanBigBand.org

In the photos to the left, Kenny Hadley and Richard Lowell teach a big band master class at Wellesley High School (Wellesley, MA) followed by a student concert and a performance by a professional level big band, playing choice arrangments from the ABBPS library. You can see a video demonstration of the master class.Master classes and clinics usually consist of a live performance from a professional big band so kids/students can get excited about this music. Advanced students will have the opportunity to play along with a professional big band during these clinics. The ABBPS will provide the use of arrangements from our library and focused instruction in specific areas of the jazz ensembles for better interpretation and performance the material.

The ABBPS will also provide arranging clinics to demonstrate and teach arranging basics and performance techniques.  There is also a curriculum to assist new teachers on how to understand and teach big band music to their classes. Jazz vocal clinics are also part of the ABBPS educational curriculum.
